Role Overview
Serve as the sole Legal Counsel based in Dubai and the primary legal contact for CMC Markets' Middle East business.
Support regulated operations within the DIFC and help ensure compliance with DFSA and UAE legal requirements.
Work with the Head of Legal - EMEA and global Legal, Compliance, Finance, and senior leadership teams.
Regional Legal and Regulatory Support
- Advise on the firm's DIFC operations and compliance with DFSA rules.
- Provide advice on UAE contractual, regulatory, market, employment, and other legal obligations.
- Coordinate with regional and global Compliance functions.
- Act as liaison with external counsel for the Dubai-based business.
Commercial and Corporate
- Draft, review, and negotiate market data licences, vendor agreements, prime brokerage documentation, ISDAs, and institutional arrangements.
- Support Finance and Treasury on loans, engagement letters, and financing arrangements.
- Assist Tax with engagement letters and related documentation.
Product and Operational Support
- Draft and amend Middle East Terms of Business in line with DFSA rules and global standards.
- Support Operations and Product on regional initiatives, client onboarding, and corporate account arrangements.
- Support Compliance on complaints handling, regulatory changes, and financial promotions reviews.
Global Collaboration and Governance
- Coordinate with legal colleagues across geographies on cross-border matters and knowledge sharing.
- Assist with monthly board reporting and regional updates for senior leadership.
- Support global expansion projects, new products, cross-border offerings, and branch considerations.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks, manage external counsel, and contribute to best-practice governance.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Practising solicitor qualification with at least six years of post-qualification experience, or equivalent relevant professional education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of the DFSA regulatory framework and DIFC legal environment.
- Strong financial services legal knowledge and experience with legal, regulatory, organisational, analytical, and negotiation matters.
- Ability to work autonomously as the sole regional legal presence while integrating with a global team.
Desirable Experience
- UAE onshore legal experience is beneficial.
- Derivatives experience, including ISDA and prime brokerage documentation, is desirable.
- Experience in a regulated online trading or derivatives environment in the Middle East is desirable.
Principal Accountabilities
Deliver high-quality Middle East legal advice with a focus on DFSA compliance and regional regulatory frameworks.
Minimise legal and regulatory risk through oversight, documentation, and proactive intervention.
Maintain understanding of CFDs, derivatives, equities, digital assets, and online trading developments.
