Tired of flat-rate pressure eating into the quality of your work?

Ready to put your diesel diagnostic skills to use on vehicles that actually save lives?

Do other technicians already come to you when they're stuck on a repair?

Want to get paid to earn your EVT certification instead of chasing it on your own dime?

Looking for a shop where teaching the next generation of techs is part of the job, not a distraction from it?

If this sounds like you, then we need to talk...

Frazer, Ltd. builds the emergency medical vehicles and mobile healthcare units that first responders count on every day.

We're looking for a Lead, Medium Duty Diesel Mechanic to bring serious diagnostic chops to our Houston service center and level up the technicians around them.

This isn't a role for someone who just wants to clock in and turn wrenches quietly; it's for someone who wants their knowledge to make the whole shop better.

What Does a Week in the Life of the Lead, Medium Duty Diesel Mechanic Look Like?

  • Walks the floor first thing to check which vehicles are queued for PM cycles or complex repairs.
  • Digs into a hard-fault diagnostic on a Duramax that's stumped another technician.
  • Walks a junior tech through a severe-duty brake job step by step, hands-on.
  • Runs a digital vehicle inspection on an ambulance, flagging chassis wear the crew needs to watch.
  • Documents PM findings and confirms the work meets NFPA 1911 standards before sign-off.
  • Coaches the team on proper dually tire mounting and balancing technique.
  • Road tests a repaired vehicle to confirm the fix holds before it goes back into service.
  • Flags a recurring failure pattern to the Service Manager to get ahead of the next breakdown.

Required Education And Experience

  • 5 to 7+ years of hands-on experience servicing light/medium-duty diesel trucks or commercial fleets
  • Strong working knowledge of Ford 6.7L PowerStroke, Ram 6.7L Cummins, GM/Chevy 6.6L Duramax, and International CV Series chassis
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex diesel engine, electrical, suspension, and driveline issues
  • A genuine interest in teaching and mentoring other technicians, not just fixing your own repair orders

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Experience repairing and servicing EMS vehicles
  • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications (T2 Diesel, T4 Brakes, T5 Suspension)
  • EVT certification, or willingness to earn it (we'll pay for it)

Skills (To Pay The Bills)

Here's a list of a few competencies that the Lead, Medium Duty Diesel Mechanic at Frazer should have…

  • You're the tech other technicians go find when they're stuck.
  • You're patient enough to teach a procedure three different ways until it clicks.
  • You know PowerStroke, Cummins, Duramax, and International platforms well enough to move between them without missing a beat.
  • You catch the small stuff on inspections before it turns into a bigger problem.
  • You take pride in seeing a repair through until it's actually fixed, not just patched.
  • You want your certifications and skills to keep growing, not sit still.

Why Frazer?

Frazer moves fast, values people who own their work, and doesn't do corporate fluff.

We build vehicles that matter, and we want technicians who take that seriously without taking themselves too seriously.

If you're direct, accountable, and always looking to get better at the job, you'll fit right in.

What's in it for you:

  • Pay between $31.00 - $38.00 per hour, based on experience hourly, plus weekly paycheck — so you get paid every Friday

  • Paid Time Off accruing from day one, 10 paid holidays, and company shutdown Christmas through New Year's
  • On-site micromarket, flexible schedules, and a real work-life balance
