Job Description Summary

Lead PCB and embedded hardware design, simulation, testing, validation, and certification activities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Design embedded hardware and multilayer PCBs using a preferred tool such as Altium Designer.
  • Handle design and development from component selection through manufacturing and product integration.
  • Perform simulation, testing, DFMEA, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Assembly activities.
  • Verify prototype hardware performance under specified operating conditions.
  • Create schematics and validate PCB footprints according to IPC standards.
  • Conduct thermal, signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI simulations using engineering tools.
  • Prepare and validate configurations, operating principles, application guidelines, specifications, BOMs, SLDs, and drawings.
  • Implement PCB manufacturing technology and Surface Mount assembly processes.
  • Document functional test requirements and conduct tests to applicable UL and IEC standards.
  • Coordinate with software teams and test applications in the field.
  • Apply basic software debugging knowledge when needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of power electronics design and testing experience for industrial drives.
  • Proficiency in multilayer PCB design using Altium, Zuken Cadstar, OrCAD Capture, PADS, or Expedition.
  • Good knowledge of EMI/EMC testing to industrial standards.
  • Good knowledge of power-based product development.
  • Good knowledge of parts design validation and production validation.

Additional Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, EPLAN, or MATLAB/Simulink is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within and between teams.
  • Ability to energize teams and view change as an opportunity.
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse and highly matrixed environment.
