Job Description Summary
Lead PCB and embedded hardware design, simulation, testing, validation, and certification activities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Design embedded hardware and multilayer PCBs using a preferred tool such as Altium Designer.
- Handle design and development from component selection through manufacturing and product integration.
- Perform simulation, testing, DFMEA, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Assembly activities.
- Verify prototype hardware performance under specified operating conditions.
- Create schematics and validate PCB footprints according to IPC standards.
- Conduct thermal, signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI simulations using engineering tools.
- Prepare and validate configurations, operating principles, application guidelines, specifications, BOMs, SLDs, and drawings.
- Implement PCB manufacturing technology and Surface Mount assembly processes.
- Document functional test requirements and conduct tests to applicable UL and IEC standards.
- Coordinate with software teams and test applications in the field.
- Apply basic software debugging knowledge when needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of power electronics design and testing experience for industrial drives.
- Proficiency in multilayer PCB design using Altium, Zuken Cadstar, OrCAD Capture, PADS, or Expedition.
- Good knowledge of EMI/EMC testing to industrial standards.
- Good knowledge of power-based product development.
- Good knowledge of parts design validation and production validation.
Additional Desired Skills
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, EPLAN, or MATLAB/Simulink is advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within and between teams.
- Ability to energize teams and view change as an opportunity.
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse and highly matrixed environment.
