Role Overview
BD is a global medical technology company seeking a Lead Design Engineer.
The role leads R&D and product development activities across design, verification, testing, quality systems, and manufacturing transfer.
The position works with design, systems engineering, marketing, quality, regulatory, manufacturing technology, and operations teams.
Product Design and Development
- Lead R&D efforts through all phases of product development.
- Develop and optimize designs by evaluating design space, trade-offs, critical parameters, and engineering fundamentals.
- Incorporate manufacturing principles and Design for Excellence considerations covering manufacturability, usability, reliability, and safety.
- Identify and address design integration and transfer risks early.
Verification and Testing
- Apply Design for Six Sigma and empirical, statistical, and analytical tools to inform design decisions and reduce iteration cycle times.
- Lead test method and measurement system development and validation, fixture design, testing optimization, platform-level testing, and laboratory management.
- Create and execute verification protocols, summarize results, support formal design reviews, and own the verification portion of the Design History File.
