Laboratory Technician – Electromechanical & Mechatronics Engineering

School of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology (SEAST) at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support undergraduate teaching laboratories serving the Mechatronics Engineering and Power and Renewable Energy Engineering programs within the Department of Electrical Engineering.

This is a full-time position, reporting to the Dean or Chair of Electrical Engineering.

The post is central to ensuring safe laboratory operations, reliable equipment performance, accreditation readiness, and high-quality student learning experiences, while enabling academic staff to focus on teaching, supervision, and research activities.

• Applicants must hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Formal training, or demonstrated experience, in laboratory or technical support roles is required.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with electrical and mechatronics laboratory equipment is essential.
• Applicants should have working knowledge of one or more of the following areas, robotics and automation systems, renewable energy systems including solar, wind, and energy storage, smart factory systems, PLCs and industrial control systems, and power electronics and electrical machines.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices,
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and system-level issues,
• Effective organisational and communication skills are required.

• Manage laboratory inventory, consumables, and equipment records.
• Prepare, set up, and test laboratory experiments for scheduled teaching sessions.
• Provide technical assistance during laboratory classes, demonstrations, and workshops.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring consistent performance and safe operation.
