- Hold weekly office hours to support student learning
- Provide TA support for the STIA Gateway course, including a 1 credit weekly recitation
- Oversee daily lab operations including ordering, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering or Science)
- Master's degree in a related field preferred
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in laboratory preparation, setup, and operations
- Experience developing or implementing SOPs, Process Safety Assessments, and safety documentation
- Experience supporting teaching activities at the undergraduate or graduate level
- Experience in environmental science labs, sustainability labs, or field based research environments preferred
- Must already have the necessary sponsorship to live and work in Qatar

Job Overview
- Georgetown University in Qatar (GU Q) is dedicated to fulfilling Georgetown University’s mission of promoting intellectual, ethical and spiritual understanding.
- The Lab Manager oversees the strategic, technical, and operational functions of the Green Island Lab.
- This is a renewable term position for the academic year (August–May) with a part time schedule of 29 hours per week.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the instructional delivery of environmental science laboratory sections and recitations.
- Partner with instructional faculty to design, adapt, and improve laboratory and course materials.
- Manage daily lab operations, logistics, and documentation while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute logistical, technical, and risk management aspects of off campus field excursions and environmental sampling.
Key Activities
- Deliver Environmental Science Lab classes (2 × 1 credit sections) each semester.
- Hold one weekly office hour to support student learning.
- Provide TA support for the STIA Gateway course, including a 1 credit weekly recitation.
- Collaborate with GU Q instructional faculty to adapt and design new labs.
- Oversee daily lab operations including ordering, inventory, equipment maintenance, and safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation including SOPs, safety assessments, and equipment logs.
- Provide logistical and technical support for field excursions and environmental sampling.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong technical knowledge in environmental science, sustainability, or a related scientific discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to manage laboratory operations, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Ability to support undergraduate teaching, including lab instruction and recitation based learning.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
- Commitment to sustainability, safe laboratory practices, and high quality student learning experiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Engineering or Science or a comparable discipline).
- Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Additional certifications in laboratory safety, environmental compliance, or sustainability practices are an asset.
Experience
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in laboratory preparation, setup, and operations.
- Experience developing or implementing Standard Operating Procedures, Process Safety Assessments and other safety documentation.
- Experience supporting teaching activities at the undergraduate or graduate level.
- Experience in environmental science labs, sustainability labs, or field‑based research environments is preferred.
