Kitchen Porter

Houston & Hawkes | Newbury | £13.45 per hour | 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Houston & Hawkes is looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team at an exciting site in Newbury. This is an important role within our kitchen, supporting our chefs and helping to ensure the operation runs smoothly throughout the day.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in keeping a kitchen clean, organised and ready for service. You’ll work as part of a friendly and professional team, supporting with washing up, deliveries, kitchen organisation and basic food preparation when required.

Keep the kitchen, wash-up and back-of-house areas clean, organised and ready for service

Operate dishwashing equipment and ensure crockery, cutlery, utensils and kitchen equipment are cleaned efficiently

Support chefs with basic food preparation when required

Receive and organise deliveries, ensuring items are stored correctly

Keep kitchen equipment, surfaces and storage areas maintained to a high standard

Assist with stock movement and general kitchen organisation

Support the kitchen team during breakfast and lunch service

Ensure waste and recycling are managed correctly

Work closely with the chefs and wider catering team to support a smooth daily operation

Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and health and safety standards at all times

Previous Kitchen Porter or catering experience would be an advantage

A hardworking, reliable and positive approach

Good organisation and the ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen

Pride in maintaining excellent cleanliness and hygiene standards

A willingness to support the wider kitchen team wherever needed

A strong team mentality and good communication skills

The ability to follow instructions and work safely

A professional and dependable approach to your work
