Position Overview
Support the technical operation of a premium resident theatrical production in Dubai.
Combine followspot operation during rehearsals and performances with general technical support across lighting, audio, video, media systems, cabling, equipment maintenance, stage operations, and backstage activities.
Maintain precise timing, concentration, and consistency throughout performances.
Employment and Salary
- The position is full-time.
- The role pays AED 5,000 per month, all-inclusive, including accommodation or housing and transportation.
Schedule
- Work five days per week based on the production schedule.
- Evening, weekend, and public-holiday work may be required.
- Working hours follow rehearsal, performance, maintenance, and event schedules.
Followspot Operation
- Operate the assigned followspot during rehearsals, performances, special events, and corporate shows.
- Learn and execute approved followspot cues accurately under lighting and show-management direction.
- Follow performers smoothly while maintaining correct framing, movement, intensity, colour, and timing.
- Attend cueing sessions, technical rehearsals, and dress rehearsals.
- Complete pre-show checks and report equipment faults or operational concerns immediately.
- Keep the followspot position clean, organized, secure, and performance-ready.
- Follow working-at-height and equipment-safety procedures.
General Technical Operations
- Assist with setup, testing, operation, shutdown, and reset of technical equipment.
- Complete pre-show and post-show technical checks.
- Prepare stages, backstage areas, control positions, and technical systems.
- Support rehearsals, performances, venue events, and troubleshooting during performances.
- Follow cue sheets, show plots, technical instructions, and operating procedures accurately.
Lighting, Audio, and Video Support
- Assist with lighting checks, fixture preparation, focusing, cleaning, basic maintenance, cable runs, addressing, patching, and fixture replacement.
- Assist with microphones, speakers, amplifiers, playback devices, stage boxes, audio cabling, and basic audio line checks.
- Assist with projectors, displays, video distribution, signal routing, playback systems, media servers, cabling, converters, and adapters.
- Develop familiarity with grandMA3, Allen & Heath, Dataton WATCHOUT, and similar professional entertainment systems.
Stage and Equipment Support
- Assist with stage changes, scenic elements, technical equipment, backstage preparations, and safe equipment movement.
- Coordinate with props, wardrobe, stage, artistic, and operations teams.
- Clean, inspect, organize, store, label, and perform basic maintenance on technical equipment.
- Maintain inventories of cables, adapters, tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Follow health and safety procedures, risk assessments, technical protocols, training, drills, briefings, and production meetings.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in theatre, live entertainment, concerts, events, hospitality AV, or a similar technical environment is preferred.
- Previous followspot or stage-lighting experience is an advantage, but training may be provided.
- Strong concentration, visual awareness, coordination, timing, and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of lighting, audio, video, stage equipment, or AV cabling.
- Exposure to Dataton WATCHOUT, grandMA3, Allen & Heath, or similar systems is an advantage.
- Ability to work at height, stand for extended periods, and safely lift or move technical equipment.
- Basic spoken English is required; additional languages are an advantage.
- Reliable, punctual, adaptable, calm, and willing to learn.
Working Conditions
- The role is based at Crazy Horse Paris: The Dubai Edition, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE.
- The role may involve working at height, handling equipment, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Flexibility is required during installations, rehearsals, opening periods, and special events.
