• ISBE PEL paraprofessional or above
• Minimum completion of High School Diploma with ability to obtain above noted ISBE certification. Associates Degree in a related field (psychology, speech, or education) or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Experience working with students in a prevocational/vocational setting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, lift, talk, hear, stand, sit, stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl.

The employee is also frequently required to walk, run, reach with hands and arms, climb and/or balance.

• Able to move or position a student of up to 100 lbs individually
• Able to stoop, crouch and kneel for long periods of time
• Able to use PCM procedures and protocols on a daily basis
• Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
• Must be able to work with aggressive students (injuries may occur)
• Participate in strenuous physical activity for a minimum of 20 continuous minutes

WORKS WITH: ALCA Staff, Students, Transition Coordinator, Education Services Director, Executive Director, Bus Driver, and Community Partners

PURPOSE: The purpose of the job coach is to provide support to the vocation program by supporting work experiences for students in school, community exploration and on work sites.

The job coach works on preemployment and employment skills as well as IEP goals.

The job coach assists the transition coordinator, vocational coordinator, senior job coach, teachers and related staff to support lesson plans and developing students’ vocational skills.

The job coach is a key position within the vocation program.

They provide support for the educational growth of our students as well as developing job skills within the community.

This is a hands-on position working closely with the teacher, senior job coach, vocational coordinator and transition coordinator to deliver direct instruction to the students in the classroom and support on the job/volunteer site.

Job coaches support development and implementation of goals, ADLs, BIP/CIP, socialization and skill training.

• Work directly with students in classroom, community trips, in-school worksites and off campus worksites
• Accompany students into the community for training in independent living skills, community skills, social skills, job skills and life skills
• Support maladaptive behavior both in school and in the community
• Monitor student job locations for purpose of ensuring compliance with child labor laws, insurance guidelines and safety
• Assist transition coordinator, vocational coordinator, senior job coach, teachers and related service staff for the purpose of supporting lesson plans and developing students’ vocational skills
• Maintain positive relationships with worksites
• Closely collaborate with members of the student’s IEP team on development and implementation of IEPs, daily programming and general classroom needs
• Administer student assessments with support from the transition coordinator, vocational coordinator and senior job coach
• Develop goals and present levels for student IEPs and other IEP-related tasks (baselining, filing, goal implementation, data sheet creation, materials)
• Participate in and present at student IEP-related meetings
• Take data on goals and objectives
• Track time on site
• Support transition coordinator and senior job coach in microbusiness and other department initiatives
• Make materials for prevocational/vocational training specific to job tasks/experiences
• Maintain student, parent and staff confidentiality
• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance
• Development of annual student evaluations and quarterly progress reporting updates
• Assist transition coordinator, vocational coordinator, senior job coach and classroom teacher in vocation and work rooms’ daily organization and cleaning duties
• Assist transition coordinator, vocational coordinator and senior job coach in development of in-school or off campus worksites
• Other duties as assigned
