Role overview
The Application Developer role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying production-grade AWS microservices.
The role supports the Active Outage Management application and uses Java Spring Boot for API development.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable Java and Spring Boot applications.
- Build APIs and implement core service logic.
- Integrate AWS services into cloud-native applications.
- Write comprehensive unit and integration tests.
- Participate in parallel-run validation for the Active Outage Management application.
Required qualifications
- At least 5 years of Java development experience, including at least 2 years with Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience with at least three of AWS ECS, SQS, SNS, Aurora PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, or EventBridge.
- Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, transactions, and indexing strategies.
- Experience with Kafka or another distributed messaging system.
- Solid unit and integration testing practices.
- Proficiency with Git workflows, feature branching, merge requests, and CI pipelines.
- Comfort working in an agile team with daily overlap for standups and design discussions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and leadership audiences.
