Role Overview
Bluehost is hiring a Java Backend Software Engineer to build scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend services.
The role involves modern microservices, APIs, cloud-native applications, distributed systems, and software serving millions of users.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java and Spring Boot backend applications, scalable RESTful APIs, and microservices.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in architecture, code reviews, and technical design discussions.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability; troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, QA, DevOps, and other teams in an Agile environment.
- Contribute to CI/CD and engineering best practices, mentor junior engineers, and promote software quality.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend software development experience.
- Strong Java 8+ and Spring Boot experience, including the broader Spring ecosystem.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices and working with SQL databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design, design patterns, distributed systems, caching, and messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with Git, Maven or Gradle, Docker, debugging, troubleshooting, and production support.
