Summary

Duties

  • You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/NETWORK) in the Information Technology Service Mgmt, Pacific Region Network Operations Center, Operations Department at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Pacific (NCTAMS PAC).
  • You will plan, coordinate, install, and continuously analyze system design, hardware and software.
  • You will analyze hardware and software malfunctions to resolve physical and logical processing problems.
  • You will initiate corrective or preventative measures to rectify immediate problems and prevent future occurrences.
  • You will provide on going optimization and problem solving support; continually surveys system operation to identify potential problems which could lead to loss or serious interruption of service.
  • You will coordinate efforts between system customers, support personnel, and commercial vendors to identify and resolve hardware, software, and other system anomalies.
  • You will provide proactive consultation and instruction with system users to ensure seamless implementation of changes.
  • You will conduct security accreditation reviews for installed systems or networks and assessing and advising on new or revised security measures and countermeasures.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E Verify employment verification check.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12 31 59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 451/441, proficiency level Intermediate the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • Successful completion of a pre employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • You must successfully complete a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph with No Deception Indicated (NDI).

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.
  • You must have IT related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving.
  • Experience troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problems and provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers.
  • Experience assess the security of installed systems.
  • Experience reviewing, analyzing, and resolving difficult and complex technical problems involving systems compatibility, both installation wide and external interoperability, circuits, switches, and networking.
  • Experience performing system audits to assess security parameters and performance of Information Assurance (IA) controls within the network environment.
