  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or a closely related field. Master's degree preferred. Years of Experience: Minimum of five to seven years of professional experience in technical writing, strategic communications, or executive-level messaging. Clearance Required: Active Secret Citizenship: US Location: DCMA HQ, Fort Lee, Virginia Start Date: 30 September 2026

Required

Demonstrated experience working within the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of War (DoW), or a similarly complex government/military environment.

Proven ability to translate highly technical, specialized concepts into clear, concise, actionable executive summaries for senior leadership.

Exceptional editing, formatting, and quality-assurance skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple short-notice taskers and rapid-response requirements simultaneously.

Prior experience supporting a Combat Support Agency or similarly complex DoD component preferred.

Familiarity with DoD/DoW correspondence and formatting standards, as well as executive briefing templates, preferred.

Experience supporting a CIO, senior executive, or command communications office preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex technical and program information from subject-matter experts into clear, concise, executive-level briefings, reports, and talking points.
  • Ensure all outgoing communications, internal policy directives, higher-headquarters reporting, and external messaging speak with a single, consistent voice aligned to DoW standards.
  • Serve as a quality-control checkpoint for command messaging: reviewing, editing, and proofreading materials before release to prevent misinterpretation or delays.
  • Draft rapid-turnaround strategic narratives, talking points, and point papers to meet short-notice leadership requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate directly with technical subject-matter experts to gather and accurately represent complex data in leadership-facing documents.
  • Support the development of executive briefings and presentations, policy directives, higher-headquarters reports, and quality-control reviews of agency communications.
