An Inventory Control Specialist is an integral role within supply chain management, responsible for managing and maintaining inventory levels to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to analyze data to make informed decisions.
The Inventory Control Specialist oversees the tracking of inventory in warehouses, ensures that stock levels meet demand, minimizes excess inventory, and aids in optimizing the entire supply chain process.
By meticulously managing the inventory system, the specialist helps prevent stockouts, improve product availability, and enhance customer satisfaction.
This role plays a critical part in maximizing profitability by reducing waste and ensuring that inventory investment aligns with business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain optimal stock availability.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy in inventory records and reports.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize overstock and reduce inventory costs.
- Collaborate with purchasing and supply chain teams to forecast inventory needs accurately.
- Analyze historical data to predict trends and assist with inventory planning.
- Respond to inventory-related inquiries and issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel to verify counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain clear and detailed records of inventory transactions and adjustments.
- Utilize inventory management software to track product movements efficiently.
- Coordinate logistics for incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Assist in the development of inventory policies and procedures to enhance productivity.
- Report on inventory performance metrics to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as an Inventory Control Specialist or similar role in logistics.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex inventory data.
- Proficient in inventory management software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with teams across departments.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management best practices and standards.
