Data supports product, risk, finance, and operations work under requirements for quality, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Role context

This is a real engineering internship with production responsibility, not a course or shadowing program.

Data engineers work on analytics and data platforms supporting business decisions, product development, and machine learning use cases.

Interns join a real data team, work with production datasets, and are expected to meet engineering standards from day one.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain analytical data models.
  • Work with SQL-based transformations and data pipelines.
  • Contribute to data quality checks and validation logic.
  • Build and maintain data products used by business and engineering teams.
  • Work with orchestration tools and scheduled data workflows.
  • Participate in discussions about data modeling, metrics, and definitions.
  • Investigate data issues and identify root causes.
  • Improve the reliability and cost efficiency of data processing.

Required skills and knowledge

  • Strong fundamentals in SQL and good working knowledge of Python for data processing.
  • Understanding of relational data models and basic analytical data modeling concepts.
  • Ability to read, understand, and modify existing data pipelines or models.
  • Experience with Git and standard development workflows.
  • Structured thinking, attention to data correctness, and openness to constructive feedback.
  • English sufficient for documentation and team communication.

Strong plus

  • Familiarity with star schemas and slowly changing dimensions.
  • Experience with dbt or similar data transformation tools.
  • Experience with Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools.
  • Familiarity with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses.
  • Exposure to BI tools or data visualization.
  • Interest in data quality, metrics, and data platform design.

Eligibility and engagement

  • The internship is open to current students and fresh graduates.
  • The program requires full-time-level engagement and is not part-time.
  • Students may align class or exam time with their mentor in advance while maintaining expected ownership and involvement.

Internship details

  • The internship lasts six months and is planned to start in autumn 2026.
  • The internship is paid and funded by Tabby.
  • Interns are fully integrated into an engineering team.
  • A potential path to a junior data engineer or analytics engineer role may follow, but is not guaranteed.
