Role overview

CIMA+ is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join its Buildings team.

The role involves leading and contributing to structural building projects across commercial, institutional, educational, sports and recreation, healthcare, airport, transportation, and industrial sectors.

The position is hybrid and can be based in the Bowmanville or Mississauga office, with two days at the office.

Primary responsibilities

  • Oversee or directly contribute to the structural design of buildings across multiple sectors.
  • Prepare technical drawings and specifications.
  • Complete condition assessments of existing infrastructure and buildings.
  • Work with project teams from conceptual and preliminary design through completion.
  • Ensure compliance with the quality assurance and control program.
  • Manage the work of junior engineers and technologists.
  • Manage structural design on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Prepare proposals.
  • Lead the design of concrete, steel, and mass timber structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • At least 8 years of experience in structural building design, construction, and project management.
  • Membership as an Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Experience leading structural building design in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software and design tools such as SAP2000 or similar.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and Canadian design standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits as required.
  • PSPC Reliability Clearance is an asset.
