Job Summary

The Clinical Instrumentation Technician is responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting clinical laboratory instruments and diagnostic equipment used in hospitals, diagnostic centers, and medical laboratories.

The role ensures laboratory instruments function accurately, safely, and in compliance with healthcare quality standards to support reliable patient diagnostics and laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair clinical laboratory instruments and diagnostic systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of laboratory analyzers and medical devices.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to laboratory instrumentation and automation systems.
  • Ensure proper operation of hematology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, and molecular diagnostic equipment.
  • Coordinate with laboratory staff, biomedical engineers, and vendors for equipment servicing and technical support.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, calibration records, and service documentation.
  • Monitor instrument performance and ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards.
  • Assist in validation and commissioning of new laboratory instruments.
  • Ensure compliance with CAP, ISO, JCI, infection control, and healthcare safety standards.
  • Support inventory management of spare parts, consumables, and laboratory reagents.
  • Train laboratory staff on proper instrument usage and basic troubleshooting procedures.
  • Respond promptly to equipment failures to minimize laboratory downtime.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory instrumentation
  • Troubleshooting and technical repair skills
  • Understanding of medical laboratory operations and workflows
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance and regulatory standards
  • Familiarity with laboratory automation systems
  • Good communication and documentation skills
  • Attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Ability to work under pressure in healthcare environments

Qualification Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
  • Biomedical Engineering

• Electronics And Instrumentation Engineering

  • Experience in clinical laboratory instrumentation or biomedical equipment maintenance preferred.
