Role Purpose

  • To plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language classes and/or corporate training sessions, including development of materials.
  • To carry out core administrative tasks to assist the centre in reaching its audience and customer satisfaction targets.
  • To engage in continued professional development.

Main Accountabilities

  • Planning, preparing and delivering high quality English language classes or corporate training sessions.
  • Incorporating effective use of technology into classes.
  • Monitoring student progress through appropriate diagnostic testing and continuous assessment.
  • Teaching in an energetic and engaging way and at a high standard.
  • Completing core administrative tasks accurately and on time.
  • Representing the organisation in registration sessions.

Role Requirements

  • Passport should be valid for more than 6 months for visa requirements.
  • Successful candidates will be registered with a manpower agency and will have a work permit/secondment to work for the British Council.
  • Appropriate police and ID checks are mandatory.
  • Three satisfactory references required.
  • NOC (non objection certificate/letter) is required from the sponsor.

Person Specification

  • High level of proficiency in English (equivalent to CEF C2, IELTS 8.5).
  • First Degree.
  • CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL.
  • Diploma (DELTA or Trinity TESOL) is desirable.
  • YL extension, DELTA YL specialism, PGCE, TYLEC is desirable.
  • More than 1,600 hours of recent and relevant post certificate EFL experience in both Adults and YLs.
  • Young learners aged 5 to 10 (400+ hours).
  • Young learners aged 11 to 17 (400+ hours).
  • Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours).
  • Experience in IELTS / English for Special Purposes (ESP) and/or Teacher Training is desirable.
