Role Purpose
The HIS Product Manager is responsible for delivering digital health and insurance solutions by translating strategy into execution across Health Information Systems (HIS) and clinical data exchange platforms.
This role manages the product lifecycle from discovery to delivery for HIS-related products and integrations spanning provider, payer, and member ecosystems, including eligibility, pre-authorization, claims, clinical data exchange, e-prescriptions, and member-facing digital health journeys.
The role ensures that every feature delivers measurable value to users and the business while collaborating closely with design, engineering, operations, healthcare providers, and compliance teams to deliver customer-centric, data-driven, clinically safe, and compliant solutions.
Key Responsibilitiesproduct Strategy & Roadmap
- Translate product vision and roadmap into actionable and prioritized backlogs.
- Gather and analyze business requirements from stakeholders.
- Align product priorities with business objectives and customer needs.
- Translate regulatory and interoperability requirements into product features and delivery plans.
Product Delivery
- Drive Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and user story creation.
- Define feature scope, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate with engineering, QA, integration, data, and vendor teams.
- Support UAT, onboarding activities, and production releases.
Product Performance & Optimization
- Monitor product KPIs including adoption, engagement, satisfaction, and performance.
- Analyze user feedback and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Recommend and implement product enhancements.
Stakeholder Management
- Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.
- Ensure business and operational readiness for product launches and updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve product goals.
User Experience & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in product discovery, user research, and usability testing.
- Advocate for user needs and customer-centric design.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and share best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Health Information Systems (HIS), EMR/EHR platforms, and healthcare technology.
- Understanding of payer-provider workflows including eligibility, pre-authorization, claims, e-prescriptions, and clinical data exchange.
- Experience translating business and regulatory requirements into product requirements and user stories.
- Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, ICD-10, and related frameworks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Experience working in Agile environments and cross-functional teams.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to user experience.
Qualificationsexperience
- 5–10 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 3 years in Product Management, Business Analysis, HIS Consulting, Healthcare Technology, or Health Insurance environments.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Health Informatics, Business Administration, or a related field.
