The role holds end-to-end ownership of Safety, Quality, Production, People Management and Cost within the unit, ensuring that operational targets are consistently met while building a competent, autonomous and engaged team.

The position is a key driver of the Copper Business Unit strategy and a guarantor of Bahra Metals manufacturing standards.

2.1 Safety, Health & Environment

  • Champion a zero-incident culture; ensure full compliance with all HSE policies, local regulations and Bahra Metals safety standards.

  • Guarantee that every team member is properly trained, equipped and authorised to perform their tasks safely.

2.2 Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure copper wire rod is produced to specification, including chemical, mechanical, surface and dimensional properties, meeting customer and international standards.
  • Drive a culture of detail and rigor in process control, including cathode quality, casting parameters, rolling, cooling, coiling and packaging.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, 5S, Kaizen and Six Sigma, targeting yield, scrap reduction, defect elimination and process stability.
  • Own non-conformity management, customer complaints resolution and corrective/preventive actions for the section.

  • Ensure the highest standards of housekeeping, asset care and operational discipline on the shop floor.

2.4 People Management & Team Development

  • **Core focus of the role:**
  • Build, develop and lead a competent, motivated and high-performing team across all shifts.
  • Empower supervisors and operators with clear authority, accountability and the autonomy to take real-time decisions on safety, quality and production.
  • Define roles, responsibilities and KPIs for each position; establish clear escalation rules and decision-making boundaries.
  • Identify skill gaps and design technical and behavioural training plans; mentor and coach team members for technical mastery and leadership growth.
  • Lead succession planning and talent development; promote internal growth and prepare future supervisors and engineers.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, transparent communication and constructive feedback within the section.
  • Conduct performance reviews, recognise high performers and address underperformance with fair and timely actions.

2.5 Cost & Budget Management

  • Own the Copper Section operational budget, including conversion cost, energy consumption, consumables, manpower and maintenance costs.
  • Drive cost-out initiatives without compromising safety or quality; track and report cost performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Optimise yield from cathode to finished wire rod, minimising metal losses and rework.

2.6 Reporting & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Report directly to the Group Operations Director on section performance, risks, opportunities and improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales and HR to align operational decisions with business priorities.
  • Represent the Copper Section in Management Committee reviews, providing accurate, fact-based analysis and clear action plans.

3. Key Performance Indicators
