Overview
As an Electrical Engineering Graduate within our Middle East business you could be recruited predominantly into Rail, Property, or Infrastructure (Highways, Water, Utilities, & Bridges). Key flagship projects within these business areas include Contract Two; a large Infrastructure and Master Planning project in Qatar in preparation for the 2022 Qatar World Cup; Central Planning Office in Qatar; Dukhan Central; King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah; Etihad Rail (Union Railway) in the UAE, and a number of mixed use & residential developments across the region.
Your Role
- This is a Full-time work .
- You will join Atkins in the Middle East as a Electrical Engineering Graduate within one of the business areas listed above.
- You will have one base location, but you will eventually be assigned to projects across the region therefore it is likely that an element of travelling will be required for your role.
- Specific responsibilities will depend on the business you are recruited into and the project(s) you are assigned to, but may include:
- Support electrical services (Lighting, Small Power, Fire Detection & Alarm etc) concept and detail design.
- Supporting the production of drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules through schematic, outline & detailed design, and tender issue, under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.
- Involved in the preparation of HV/LV reports, designs, specifications and contract documents.
- Supporting Rail MEP design such as rail systems design, heating, overhead lines, and MEP building services design.
- Coordinating with architects, mechanical building services engineers, structural engineers and other disciplines.
- Preparation of project design reports.
- Liaison with clients, stakeholders, other professional bodies and contractors.
- Compliance with Atkins' quality, safety and environmental procedures.
- You will be supported by a relevant internationally recognised professional institution (i.e. IET) and provided with all the support infrastructure required in order to achieve professional status, both financially and through work experience & structured training.
About You
- Minimum Diploma classification of 2:1 (i.e. 60% or above) in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering. A further specialist (such as an MEng or Master's degree) would be an advantage.
- No more than two years' relevant work experience.
- Drive and self-motivation to achieve chartered status with the relevant institution.
- Drive to continuously develop your technical & behavioral skills.
- Ability to lead and work as part of a team.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating solutions.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in English (verbal & written) within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work on your own initiative.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments.
- Ability to multi-task and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Ability to influence others.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to make sound judgements.
