Graduate Data Engineer

Job requirements

• Recent graduate, or due to graduate soon, with a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a genuine interest in working with data.

• Basic understanding of Cloud technologies/python.

• Exposure to programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar through university projects, placements, or personal projects.

• Understanding of data structures, databases, or software development principles.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

• Eagerness to learn new technologies and develop technical expertise.

• Ability to manage priorities and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

• AWS or other cloud platforms.

• Data warehousing concepts and analytics platforms.

• ETL/ELT tools or data integration projects.

• Python for data processing and automation.

• Git or version control tools.

• Personal, academic, or internship projects involving data engineering, analytics, or software development.

Job responsibilities

• Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines and integration processes.

• Assist in managing and maintaining databases to ensure data is accurate, secure, and accessible.

• Work with cloud-based technologies and tools within AWS to support data storage and processing.

• Collaborate with Data, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to understand data requirements and business needs.

• Help develop and maintain data models, documentation, and reporting structures.

• Monitor data quality and investigate issues to ensure reliable and trustworthy data.

• Support the automation of manual data processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Learn and apply best practices in data engineering, data governance, and security.

• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

• Contribute to projects that improve the scalability and efficiency of the organisation's data platform.

• Structured onboarding and mentorship from experienced Data Engineers.

• Hands-on experience with modern cloud and data technologies.
