Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Girlswear Designer to support and elevate our girlswear collections.

This role requires a creative leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, understands girlswear trends and product nuances, and has the capability to guide and mentor teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and create seasonal trend direction, including key shapes, color palettes, and newness for each range.
  • Ensure designs reflect the brand’s identity and consistently evolve with market expectations.
  • Act as a representative of the design manager in their absence, taking ownership of the team and deliverables.
  • Support cross-functional teams such as Buying, Merchandising, and Marketing with strong design insights.
  • Analyze and interpret catwalk trends, emerging market data, and shopping samples to curate relevant and commercially successful collections.
  • Maintain an updated knowledge of fabric developments (especially knits, denim, and woven fabrication), pattern making, and garment construction.
  • Assist in sourcing and briefing suppliers, based on their strength and capabilities.
  • Continuously evaluate best sellers to propose strong 'move-ons' and enhance future collections.
  • Bring strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and agility to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Develop and optimize design processes where necessary for efficient workflow.
  • Ensure precision and attention to detail across all aspects of design and development.
  • Confidently present trends, ranges, and concepts to senior management and stakeholders.

Soft Skills & Tools

  • Strong leadership and people management skills; able to mentor junior team members.
  • Confident in coaching, giving and receiving feedback, and building a positive team culture.
  • Excellent visual and verbal communication to convey design ideas clearly.
  • Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and creating engaging design presentations.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data-driven design decisions.
  • Strong planning and execution abilities to handle multiple product lines simultaneously.
  • Smart working mindset, with the ability to take on new challenges proactively and with enthusiasm.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience, with at least 2 years in a team management role.
  • Proven experience in girlswear design including licensed character development.
  • Hands-on denim product development experience is a must.
  • Preferably has hands-on experience designing for all girlswear segments – from infants to pre-teens.
  • Previous exposure to shopping trips for trend and market research is required.
