Breakthrough Ventures is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Manager for complex construction, infrastructure, industrial, residential, energy, transportation, and development projects.
The role leads geotechnical strategy, investigations, ground assessment, foundation engineering, design review, construction support, risk management, consultant management, and technical quality assurance.
The manager provides technical and managerial leadership from feasibility and site investigation through design, construction, monitoring, and closeout.
Work Arrangement
- The position is fully remote and based within the United Arab Emirates.
- The role involves working independently in a fully remote and internationally distributed environment.

Geotechnical Engineering Leadership
- Develop geotechnical strategies aligned with project objectives, codes, site conditions, client requirements, and construction methodologies.
- Lead geotechnical teams across multiple projects and disciplines.
- Establish technical standards, workflows, design-review processes, and quality controls.
- Provide technical leadership on complex ground and foundation engineering issues.
Feasibility and Site Investigation
- Lead preliminary assessments covering ground conditions, geological setting, groundwater, foundation conditions, excavation, slope stability, settlement risk, and geotechnical hazards.
- Develop investigation strategies based on project type, structure, site conditions, geological complexity, foundation requirements, and construction method.
- Define investigation scope, depth, spacing, testing requirements, and reporting standards.
Design and Project Delivery
- Oversee work across feasibility, investigations, concept design, detailed design, tender, construction, monitoring, and project closeout.
- Support foundation, excavation, retaining-system, dewatering, ground-improvement, slope-stability, and earthworks decisions.
- Manage design reviews, independent checks, peer reviews, construction support, monitoring, and technical risk management.
Technical Experience
- Extensive experience in geotechnical, foundation, ground, engineering geology, or geotechnical design management disciplines.
- Experience leading geotechnical teams on major building, infrastructure, transportation, industrial, energy, marine, commercial, residential, or mixed-use projects.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, site investigation, foundations, earthworks, excavation, retaining systems, groundwater, slope stability, and ground improvement.
- Experience managing investigations through fieldwork, laboratory testing, interpretation, reporting, and design.
- Experience with shallow and deep foundations, piles, bearing capacity, settlement, lateral loading, uplift, and soil-structure interaction.
- Experience with complex excavation support, deep basements, dewatering, ground movement, and adjacent-structure protection.
Tools and Professional Qualifications
- Experience with PLAXIS, GeoStudio, FLAC, MIDAS GTS, GEO5, or equivalent geotechnical numerical-modeling platforms.
- Experience with BIM, GIS, 3D ground modeling, digital geotechnical databases, and engineering data-management systems.
- Relevant degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional registration or chartered status such as PE, CEng, EurGeol, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of UAE and GCC geological conditions, construction practices, authority requirements, and geotechnical risks is highly advantageous.
Leadership and Communication
- Strong technical leadership, analytical, numerical, project-management, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills; additional languages are advantageous.
- Ability to translate complex ground conditions and uncertainties into practical engineering solutions and clear project risks.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, investigations, consultants, technical reviews, construction issues, and competing priorities simultaneously.
Additional Experience
Experience with geotechnical instrumentation and observational methods is advantageous.
Experience with tunnels, marine works, reclamation, high-rise developments, deep excavations, major infrastructure, or complex ground conditions is advantageous.
The role emphasizes safety, risk awareness, constructability, commercial judgment, data-driven practice, collaboration, and results orientation.
