General Maintenance Technician

• High school education
• Must have a valid driver’s license, complete a driver training program and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

• General knowledge and skills related to light maintenance work
• Good understanding of institutional building maintenance operations
• Familiarity with applicable building codes, common construction practices, and maintenance standards
• Familiarity with the following trades: plumbing, HVAC, electricity, rough and finish carpentry, painting, and locksmithing
• Good reading, writing, and math skills
• Excellent customer service skills required
• Must work cooperatively and professionally with a wide variety of College personnel as well as outside vendors and contractors.
• Must work cooperatively with others and deal courteously with students, faculty, staff, and co-workers
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form
• Ability to concentrate and follow through on all assignments to completion
• Must demonstrate teamwork skills and a willingness to help others
• Possesses a positive attitude to foster a cohesive working environment
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
• Tolerates work-related stress effectively, maintaining professionalism and adherence to core values in all interactions
