Role Overview

Gemstone Evaluation and Sourcing

• Identify and evaluate gemstones by type, color, clarity, cut, carat weight, origin, treatment, and overall quality.
• Examine gemstones with gemological tools and testing equipment and identify potential treatments or enhancements.
• Support purchasing and sourcing based on established quality and pricing requirements.
• Research suppliers, dealers, wholesalers, manufacturers, international markets, emerging varieties, and industry trends.

Documentation and Inventory

• Review certificates, laboratory reports, invoices, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain records of gemstone specifications, weights, values, origins, treatments, and certifications.
• Assist with inventory management, stock verification, photography, cataloging, labeling, displays, and storage systems.
• Identify discrepancies between gemstones and documentation and report missing, damaged, or incorrectly recorded items.

Client and Business Support

• Recommend gemstones based on client preferences, jewelry designs, budgets, and intended applications.
• Explain gemstone characteristics, quality factors, care requirements, and market considerations to customers and colleagues.
• Support sales teams with product information, quotations, descriptions, valuation information, and sales documentation.
• Coordinate with designers, goldsmiths, manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, collectors, and business partners.

Security and Compliance

• Handle gemstones carefully and follow security, storage, quality-control, company, and applicable UAE requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding high-value gemstones, clients, suppliers, transactions, and commercial information.
• Support exhibitions, trade shows, private appointments, product presentations, insurance, valuation, and appraisal processes when required.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of colored gemstones, precious stones, identification, grading, treatments, quality characteristics, and market value is required.
• A diploma or bachelor's degree in Gemology, Jewelry Design, Mineralogy, Geology, or a related field is preferred.
• Professional gemological certification such as GIA, FGA, or an equivalent qualification is advantageous.
• Previous related gemology, gemstone trading, jewelry, luxury retail, or sourcing experience is preferred.
• Fluency in English is preferred; Arabic or additional languages are advantageous.
• Relevant UAE professional certification or licensing may be required depending on the employer and scope of duties.
