Global Markets, Fundamental Strategies Group (HY / Distressed / Loans - Desk Analyst Team), New York, Associate / VP The US Leveraged Finance Fundamental Strategies Group is a team of desk analysts that works closely with traders for Bank Loans, High Yield and Distressed Trading in evaluating US corporate credit trading opportunities. Analysts build financial models, perform fundamental credit and trading technical analyses, and conduct due diligence, all towards developing executable long and short trade recommendations for internal and external consideration. The team is currently looking for analyst(s) with industry expertise and background focused on natural resources, including with respect to metals and mining, chemicals, power and utilities, and/or energy. Responsibilities / Qualifications

  • Analyzing credit opportunities and developing investment theses, based upon quantitative and qualitative diligence, including through thorough analysis of financial performance, industry research, and construction of cash flow and valuation models
  • Liaising with clients, investors and internal sub-groups to achieve commercial outcomes
  • Leveraging a deep understanding of numerous companies to develop industry expertise
  • Presenting investment theses and risk analyses to senior leaders
  • Applying an understanding of business performance to evaluate scenarios
  • Assisting in the management of risk across corporate bonds, credit derivatives, leveraged loans, and reorg equity
  • 2-5+ years of experience in credit research and/or investing (buy-side or sell-side), and/or a related field such as investment banking, restructuring, private equity, and/or equity research [AY1].
  • Strong academic record with minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving ability and experience, including in asset management, investment banking, trading, or research
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Past credit experience is ideal, but open to equity and commodity experience as well
  • Natural resources investment banking, trading, or research experience
  • Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities and work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of distressed frameworks and restructurings
