Gateway Operations Supervisor

Role overview

Operational responsibilities

• Organize shifts and staffing levels to meet business requirements.
• Recover, break bulk, inspect, and clear incoming shipments efficiently.
• Manage receipt and lodgment of outbound shipments for timely departure and uplift.
• Ensure accurate sorting and optimum loading of inbound and outbound shipments.
• Monitor ground handlers and warehouse providers and complete required reports.
• Ensure safe working practices and participate in gateway quality and ISO initiatives.

Leadership responsibilities

• Develop a high-performance service culture within the functional department.
• Develop KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance.
• Manage resources and staff commitments against organizational objectives and targets.
• Identify training needs and development opportunities for the department.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of customs operations, trade compliance, and financial impact.
• Knowledge of customs laws, GCC regulations, and international trade agreements.
• Customs broker certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
• Fluent English is essential; Arabic is an added advantage.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
