Overall Role Purpose
Supervise a gateway operations team on a rostered shift basis.
Ensure shipments enter and exit the country according to network procedures and transit time standards.
Operational Responsibilities
- Organize shifts and staffing levels to meet business requirements.
- Ensure incoming shipments are recovered, break bulked, inspected, and cleared efficiently.
- Manage receipt and lodgment of outbound shipments for timely departure and uplift.
- Ensure accurate sorting and optimum loading of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Monitor ground handler and warehouse provider performance.
- Complete all necessary operational reports.
- Ensure safe working practices and a safe environment within the shift.
Leadership and Performance
- Participate in gateway quality policies and initiatives, including ISO initiatives.
- Develop a high-performance service culture within the functional department.
- Plan, organize, and direct an efficient and effective functional department.
- Develop IKOs and KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance.
- Manage performance appraisal activities.
- Allocate resources and staff commitments to achieve global, regional, and country objectives.
- Identify training needs and development opportunities for the department.
Profile and Qualifications
- Deep understanding of customs operations, trade compliance, and financial impact.
- Current knowledge of customs laws, GCC regulations, and international trade agreements.
- Ability to build relationships with customs teams and internal teams.
- Ability to lead without direct authority and drive change across functions.
- Ability to align customs programs with business objectives and regional strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field.
- Customs broker certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Fluent English is required; Arabic is an added advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills.
