FUND ACCOUNTANT, Successful Investor Wealth Management Inc.
We are an established wealth management firm with 20+ years’ experience in independent portfolio management with assets under management of $1 billion and growing.
Successful Investor Wealth Management (‘SIWM’) is actively seeking a Fund Accountant professional with strong reporting skills who will provide high quality support and contribute to the continued growth of the organization.
Working in concert with the Portfolio Management team to work on fund accounting and supporting back-office Portfolio Management activities, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Fund Accountant at a wealth management and/or asset management firm.
Investment Fund Accounting
- Prepare/review annual and semi-annual financial statements for Investment Funds, and related note disclosures, working papers, schedules, and calculations for auditor’s review within prescribed timelines.
- Review and approval of month end Pooled Fund financial statements, including the reconciliation of all Fund accounts, and preparation of all supporting documentation.
- Review and approve the month end Fund valuation to compute the Fund NAV for client subscription and redemption price, within prescribed timelines, with zero tolerance for error.
- Review and approve journal entries to account for dividend income, portfolio trades, investment transactions, management fees, and subscriptions and redemptions for assigned Pooled Funds.
- Review and reconcile daily transactions of assigned funds – analyze daily cash flow activities, reconcile assets, and cash balances, maintain a balanced cash account.
- Assist in “Exempt Distribution” filings [Form 45-106], with Securities Commissions across Canada.
- Prepare year end distribution working papers and “T3 Tax Allocations” for CRA, National Bank, clients tax slips, and Auditor review.
- Review and approval of Pooled Fund HST filing.
Compliance Assistance
- Assist the Chief Compliance Officer, to ensure that our regulatory reporting requirements are met.
- Ensures that our Company and employees are compliant with Securities Act.
- Attends compliance seminars and keeps Chief Compliance Officer advised of proposed regulatory changes.
- Familiar with Securities Act, FATCA, OBSI and Fintrac Anti Money Laundering obligations and requirements.
- Assist with the KYC, AML, CRS updating process.
Client Administration & Services
- Generate quarterly client invoicing files (including taxes payable), prepare management fee calculations to account for split fees, margin balances, special situations.
- Calculate termination fees and distribute final fee information to the relevant departments.
- Review and approve client tax packages: gain/loss reports, book value reports, rate of return reports, management fee and income reports before they are distributed to clients.
Requirements
- University Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- A minimum of 3 years work experience in Investment Accounting.
- Possess or in process of obtaining a professional designation. (CFA,CPA)
- Asset to have passed the Canadian Securities Course.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proactive and able to take initiative to bring forward improvements to systems and processes.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
Other Information
- Working hours are generally 9:00 am - 5:00 pm but may occasionally run beyond, especially during peak periods.
- Must be able to work past 5:00 pm on the last business day of every month, and on the first day following month-end (even if it falls on a Public Holiday or Saturday) as well as other occasions, as required, to assist with the Pooled Fund Valuation.
- May need to work some over time during Pooled Fund semi-annual reporting & annual reporting season.
Located near Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave. in North York, Toronto.
