Forward Deployed Engineer - JAVA / AWS / Vertex AI

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of hands-on Java/J2EE experience, including Spring Boot, REST/SOAP services, JMS, XML, JSON, JDBC, Flink, Apache Camel, or related frameworks.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, cloud automation, build specifications, and repeatable deployment patterns.
• Strong software engineering experience designing, building, and supporting secure, scalable, maintainable applications in an enterprise environment.
• Strong AWS experience across application infrastructure, including Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, CI/CD, observability, and production readiness; AWS certifications are a plus.
• Experience applying GenAI or agentic AI across engineering workflows, including code generation, test automation, workflow orchestration, and productivity improvements.
• Ability to communicate across the organization and influence leadership, architecture, product, business, and engineering stakeholders.

• The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees.
