Role Overview
The role will help strengthen the University of Sheffield’s financial control and compliance approach.
The post holder will support delivery of the financial compliance framework across academic Schools and Professional Service departments.
The role combines technical assurance and analytical skills with clear communication for finance and non-finance colleagues.
The post reports to the Head of Financial Assurance and provides broad exposure to the University’s financial operations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver financial compliance health checks, including planning, data analysis, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up.
- Analyse financial data to identify trends, exceptions, risk areas, and potential control weaknesses.
- Explain compliance risks and findings clearly, including causes, consequences, and required actions.
- Maintain the assurance action tracker, monitor agreed actions, and escalate delays where appropriate.
- Manage the central Financial Compliance mailbox and provide professional advice.
- Support development, maintenance, and improvement of the financial compliance framework.
- Support policy updates and process development aligned with institutional standards and regulatory expectations.
