Programme Context
Hivos implements THRIVE, a programme supporting civil society resilience, sustainability, and effectiveness in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Colombia, and Lebanon.
THRIVE focuses on inclusive collaboration spaces, stronger operational and strategic capacities, and access to knowledge, networks, tools, and resources.
Financial Monitoring
- Monitor partners' financial performance for contractual, donor, and Hivos compliance.
- Strengthen partners' budget-management capacity and review fund availability for disbursements.
- Consolidate partner expenditures for donor financial reports.
- Review partner reports, provide corrections, verify expenses, and record findings in All Solutions.
- Evaluate partner audit results using Hivos assessment standards.
Project Financial Monitoring
- Generate monthly expenditure reports from All Solutions and verify transaction completeness.
- Incorporate cash reconciliation into expenditure reports when applicable.
- Conduct project budget execution analysis and review resource allocation.
- Recommend budget reallocations and apply corrections directed by the Finance Manager.
- Ensure financial execution aligns with donor and Hivos mandates.
Accounting and Closure
- Review accounting records monthly to identify omissions and discrepancies.
- Reconcile All Solutions expenses and income against donor financial reports.
- Conduct partner financial intake assessments and document outcomes and action plans.
- Align project budget accounts with Hivos codes after contract approval.
- Verify final financial reports and complete contract closure in All Solutions.
Financial Support
- Ensure compliance with local authorities and financial institutions.
- Support supplier payments, reconciliations, staff advances, and other office administration.
- Provide consolidated budget execution information to the regional financial team.
- Complete the annual forecast and contribute to quarterly and annual financial planning.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in finance, accounting, business economics, or a related field.
- CPA, ACCA, or related certification.
- One to three years of finance experience, including donor-funded programme financial management.
- Experience with grants, donor financial cycles, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting.
- Experience with audits, tax compliance, financial risks, capacity building, and technical guidance.
- Fluency in English is essential; French knowledge is an asset.
