The Opportunity
The Ministry of Highways, Southern Operations, is seeking a less-than-full-time Seasonal Ferry Operator for the Riverhurst Ferry Crossing.
Responsibilities
- Performs safe operating practices, water rescue procedures during ferry operations in compliance with The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and workplace procedures.
- Performs routine equipment maintenance, including basic mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, fuel and lubrication systems.
- Applies standard safety precautions and practices according to established protocols, guidelines and legislation.
- Identifies and diagnoses equipment failures; performs minor repairs and coordinates major repairs with the Ministry.
- Communicates issues, policies and procedures clearly to clients, team members and stakeholders.
- Prepares work schedules, instructs, guides, coaches and motivates team members to enhance performance and skill development.
- Organizes, records and presents verbal and written information in a clear, concise, complete, accurate and timely manner.
