The Estimator and Cost Controller is a key player in the project management team, responsible for providing accurate cost estimates and effective financial management throughout the project lifecycle.
This role requires a strong focus on detail, accuracy, and a deep understanding of the cost components involved in various projects.
The position demands excellent analytical skills, the ability to work with complex data sets, and effective communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
The Estimator and Cost Controller ensures that projects are completed within budgetary constraints, thus contributing significantly to the financial success of the organization.
This is a versatile role that blends technical knowledge with strategic financial planning and requires the ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare detailed cost estimates for various construction projects.
- Analyze project specifications and any relevant documents provided for accurate estimation.
- Coordinate with project managers to align estimations with project objectives.
- Monitor and report cost variance, providing insights into project financial performance.
- Establish and maintain budgeting, financial reports, and forecasting systems.
- Review and validate cost estimates submitted by subcontractors and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards for cost controlling.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify financial risks and propose mitigation plans.
- Provide cost analysis and make recommendations for cost savings opportunities.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Update and maintain cost databases and pricing information regularly.
- Prepare and present financial reports and findings to project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost estimation or financial management.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail required.
- Proficient in using cost estimation and project management software tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to cost control.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects concurrently.
