Role Overview
The Civil Engineer will create engineering plans for land development using calculations and research.
The role combines civil engineering design with construction estimation, pricing, procurement, and commercial preparation for bids.
Core Responsibilities
- Work with project managers on project timelines and designs.
- Develop diagrams, visual aids, and design specifications.
- Execute projects according to outlined criteria.
Estimation and Pricing Duties
- Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural and structural drawings and specifications.
- Prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, plant and equipment, and subcontractor packages.
- Prepare and review Bills of Quantities using project specifications and standard measurement methods such as POMI and CESSM.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, analyze commercial risks, and recommend markup and profit margins.
- Compile technical and financial tender packages and submit bid clarifications.
Procurement Duties
- Source materials and suppliers that meet project specifications, quality standards, and budget constraints.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and warranties with vendors and subcontractors.
- Prepare purchase orders, subcontract agreements, material submittals, and vendor prequalification documents.
- Coordinate with site teams and logistics for timely material delivery and monitor procurement costs against budgets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Require 1–3 years of civil engineering experience related to site design, land development, and land use permitting.
- Require experience with AutoCAD.
- Require strong organizational, analytical, communication, and design skills.
