ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN

Knowledge of general, organic, inorganic, and analytical chemistry.

Must be able to lift and carry hazardous and electronic waste weighing up to 44 lbs. continuously during regular duties as well as moving full drums of packed and bulked waste.

Knowledge and training in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and the Environmental Protection Act and its regulations that apply to this work

Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the Regulations that apply to this work.

Must be able to travel to various work locations using own transportation, as required.

Must be able to work Saturdays as part of the work week as well as shift work.

Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Ability to work in an organized and tidy manner.

Able to work as part of a team as well as work effectively with consultants, contractors, colleagues and other City employees at all levels and members of the public.
