About the Role
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is hiring an Environmental Resources Program Manager 1 to supervise a staff in the Division of Mining and Reclamation's Hydrologic Protection Unit.

Requirements
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Four years of full time or equivalent part time paid experience related to the specialty area
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Computer skills, including use of databases
- Valid driver's license (implied by MVR check)

Nature of Work
- Environmental Resources Program Manager 1 at West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Mining and Reclamation.
- Office Location: 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840.
- Employee will be assigned to the Hydrologic Protection Unit, Coal Related NPDES Permitting Section (Article 11).
Duties
- Under Administrative Direction, performs professional work at the managerial level supervising a staff.
- Plan, organize, implement, monitor and control activities to ensure efficient and economical operation.
- Coordinate activities with other divisions, offices and entities to promote cooperation and common goals.
- Apply scientific principles and knowledge of federal and state regulations as it relates to NPDES and 401 Certification.
- Foster an environment of customer service.
- Communicate with industry, consultants, agency personnel, other regulatory agencies, and the public.
- Chair meetings with WVDEP staff and company officials/consultants on NPDES related issues.
- Attend conferences, Pre inspections and public hearings when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Training: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Substitution: Additional experience may substitute for training at a rate of one year for every 15 semester hours of graduate training or 30 semester hours of undergraduate training.
- Experience: Four years of full time or equivalent part time paid experience related to the specialty area.
Notes
- Employee may be required to perform physical reviews of NPDES permit applications.
- Applicants must have good written and oral communication skills.
- Computer skills, including use of databases, are necessary.
- Regular attendance is an essential part of this position.
- Qualifying applicants will complete an internet based profile assessment.
- Recommended candidate will be subject to a search of Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) prior to being hired and annually thereafter.
- New employees involved with DEP programs subject to SMRCA must file a Statement of Employment and Financial Interest (OSM 23) annually.
