  • Work with engineering teams to identify opportunities for product improvement and increased reliability.
  • Support prototype build activities, design reviews, and development programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain an organised, safe, and efficient workshop and laboratory environment.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • ONC/HNC, Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3+, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronic, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in a mechanical engineering, R&D, product development, manufacturing, or testing environment.
  • Hands-on experience assembling and testing mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and technical documentation.
  • Competence in the use of workshop tools, measuring equipment, and test instrumentation.
  • Practical experience with mechanical assembly, fitting, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting the development of motors, propulsion systems, rotating machinery, or powertrain products.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and engineering drawing packages.
  • Experience using precision measurement equipment such as micrometres, verniers, CMMs, and dial indicators.
  • Basic machining skills including drilling, and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly techniques.
  • Experience with environmental, vibration, thermal, or endurance testing.
  • Exposure to aerospace, automotive, industrial, robotics, or electrification sectors.
  • Understanding of design for manufacture (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
