The Engineering Manager leads multidisciplinary engineering teams for one or more high-voltage substation EPC projects.

Team leadership
- Manage, coordinate, and develop engineering teams covering primary, secondary, BIM/3D, and civil/structural disciplines.
- Allocate resources and workload based on project phases, milestones, and priorities.
- Set team objectives, mentor engineers, and support technical skill development.
- Arbitrate priorities and resources across projects when managing multiple projects.
- Act as the primary contact for the Principal Design Engineer in the UK.
- Attend weekly internal design reviews and monthly project plan reviews.
Engineering delivery
- Own the quality, consistency, and interdisciplinary coordination of engineering deliverables.
- Ensure outputs comply with codes, standards, client specifications, and internal engineering standards.
- Resolve technical conflicts and ensure design-freeze milestones are achieved.
- Review and approve key technical documents and design packages before issue.
Vendors and stakeholders
- Act as the senior technical contact for equipment vendors and subcontractors.
- Support technical clarifications, bid evaluations, factory acceptance tests, and supplier design reviews.
- Ensure vendor drawings, datasheets, and calculations are reviewed and approved to schedule.
- Coordinate with project management, procurement, construction, commissioning, and QA/QC.
- Represent engineering in project reviews, steering committees, and client-facing technical discussions.
- Communicate risks, constraints, and schedule impacts to project leadership and stakeholders.
Experience and education
- Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Have at least 18 years of experience in the HV EPC substation business.
- Bring experience with AIS/GIS substations, HV equipment, and protection and control systems.
- Have managed or led multidisciplinary engineering teams across relevant disciplines.
- Have managed engineering scope on single-project or multi-project EPC substation programmes.
- Have interfaced directly with vendors and subcontractors on technical matters.
- Have worked in structured project engineering environments with project, procurement, and construction functions.
- Possess strong technical grounding across HV substation engineering disciplines.
