Looking to kickstart your future with an Apprenticeship? Gen2 offers an exciting range of Engineering & Manufacturing Apprenticeships across Cumbria, giving you the chance to earn while you learn, gain valuable hands-on experience, and build a career with some of the region’s leading employers.

Apprenticeships Available

At Gen2 we offer apprenticeships covering a wide variety of trades, including:

Engineering Mechanical Including: Engineering Operatives, Engineering Maintenance Technician, Technical support, and Engineering Fitter

Engineering Electrical Including: Engineering Operatives, Engineering Maintenance Technician, Technical Support Control and Instrumentation, Electrical / Mechanical and Engineering Fitter

Design Technician : Including both Mechanical and Electrical Design

Welding and Fabrication : Including General Welding, Metal fabrication, or Pipefitter

Civil and Highway Engineering

Manufacturing Operatives : Including Machining, Lean and Science Process Operatives

How to Apply - Gen2 Apprenticeship Process:

  • Gen2 acts as a bridge between you and top local employers . Here’s how the process works:
  • Apply Online Submit your application via our website. You can choose as many or as few trades as you like.
  • Application Feedback Our recruitment team will review your application. If improvements are needed, we’ll set your application back to ‘pending’ and email you with helpful tips to strengthen it — don’t worry, this is part of the process and helps you make the best possible impression. Once you have made amendments as advised, send it back to us for a further check.
  • Selection Process Once your application is processed and ready for employers, keep an eye on your email inbox— you’ll be among the first to be notified about new apprenticeship opportunities. If you’re interested and think a role is a good fit for you, let us know and we’ll send your application to the employer. They’ll review it and decide who to invite to the next stage of their hiring process.
  • Employer Interviews You may be contacted directly by Gen2 or an employer at any point between now and September 2026 — so apply early and give yourself the best chance!
