The Technology Operations team is currently seeking an Engineer Communications to join them on an 8/6 Roster based at the Hancock Iron Ore (HIO) Contract Mine Sites which include Sanjiv Ridge and McPhee. Reporting to the Superintendent Site Technology, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, high availability and efficient operation of Hancock Iron Ore’s Radio Frequency (RF) networks.
Duties:
Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network and communications infrastructure, primarily In-Pit WiFi, TETRA and LTE
Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation
Ensure service level agreements are monitored and enforced
Perform network performance testing and provide network performance statistics and regular reports to the Technology leadership team
Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organisation’s network
Contribute to the design and configuration of fixed, wireless, and mobile security countermeasures, including personal firewalls, encryption, and associated security technologies
Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts
Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services
Assess, approve, and administer all equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
