To install, remove, exchange, inspect, and test single phase self-contained meters; to maintain stock and issue metering equipment parts and supplies; to repair watt-hour meters and perform related work; and to assist Senior Energy Technician or other higher classification.

  • To install, remove, and exchange watt-hour meters, metering equipment, and voltmeters, contacting customers and making arrangements for metering work, check in correctness of wiring, connections, and area served including situations such as foreign load and switched meters; and verifying that meters are operating and are proper for the type of service being rendered.
  • To make tests of meters, inspecting, cleaning, and repairing or replacing parts found worn or defective, and making adjustments until tests show meters to be operating within prescribed limits of accuracy.
  • To disconnect meters for non-payment and reconnect when situation is rectified. If necessary, to collect past due customer bills.
  • To time-check demand devices and as required make minor repairs or adjustments.
  • To check for and correct improper wiring conditions, to repair, replace, and install meter fitting interiors; and to prepare reports describing conditions found and work performed.
  • To check and investigate single phase unmetered current.
  • To confer with customers relative to abnormal increases in registration; and as assigned, to read watt-hour meters and indicating demand meters.
  • To receive and maintain a supply of meters, metering equipment, repair parts, supplies, and determining sizes and types required; and make required entries into the computer system.
  • To receive and issue materials, tools, and supplies for field use and maintain a record of tools issued; and to receive and forward damaged tools for repair or replacement, and place repaired and replacement tools in stock.
  • To repair, recondition, and rebuild meters by inspecting for defects and proper operation, repairing or replacing parts found worn or defective, and calibrating and adjusting until tests show meters to be operating within prescribed limits of accuracy.
  • To interface with customers in connection with their inquiries and complaints pertaining to high bills.
  • To investigate various work orders and conduct tests to ensure that the proper rate and registration are billed.
  • Education equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • Satisfactory completion of prescribed training modules and examinations.
  • FOR INTERNAL BIDDERS: ELIGIBITY RULES FOR JOB CLASSIFICATION � Under terms of the Clerical Lateral and Demotion Pilot and Clerical Bracketing Agreement � Eligibility for open positions will no longer be limited to employees in those job titles immediately below the job being offered. Instead, open positions will be offered to all employees below the position(s) currently being offered, based on their seniority date � All other provisions of the Clerical Bracketing Agreement continue to be in effect
  • FOR INTERNAL BIDDERS: Laterals � Qualified employees will be eligible for lateral opportunities based on seniority � In order to be eligible for a lateral transfer an employee must complete two (2) consecutive years in their current position. � An employee who accepts a lateral transfer will not be eligible to request a subsequent lateral transfer for two (2) years � Laterals will be defined as both title-to-title comparables, as well as similar wage rate time step schedules (For example, a Commercial Clerk 1 moving to an Operating Clerk 1 position would be considered a lateral, both titles are on the same wage rate time step schedule) � Interviews will still be utilized where applicable (e.g. GSR). Seniority will continue to be used to arrange interviews � Lateral transfers will no longer be limited to a change in geographic location. Employees will have an opportunity to voluntarily elect a lateral transfer from department to department
  • FOR INTERNAL BIDDERS: Demotions � All Clerical employees who have completed two (2) consecutive years of service in their current position will be eligible to elect a voluntary demotion � Employees electing to voluntarily demote will be ineligible for additional demotion opportunities for two (2) years
  • FOR INTERNAL BIDDERS: YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE IF: � Disability/Restricted Duty � Employees on disability or restricted duty must provide a medical release, within the posting period stating their return to regular duty within 14 calendar days
