Role Overview

The Emissions and Compliance Analyst supports monitoring, analysis, reporting, and compliance management for vessel emissions and environmental performance.

The role supports regulatory submissions, decarbonization initiatives, and compliance with international and regional maritime environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, validate, and analyze vessel emissions, fuel consumption, voyage, and operational performance data.
  • Support compliance with IMO DCS, EU MRV, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, CII, EEXI, and other environmental regulations.
  • Prepare emissions reports, regulatory submissions, supporting documentation, and audit trails.
  • Monitor vessel performance against emissions targets, benchmarks, carbon intensity indicators, and management plans.
  • Identify data quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with vessels, technical teams, operations, and stakeholders.
  • Support emissions allowance calculation, verification, and administration, including EU ETS exposure.
  • Prepare annual emissions statements, management reports, dashboards, and performance analyses.
  • Track regulatory changes and communicate relevant updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Improve data collection processes, reporting accuracy, and environmental performance with shipboard and shore-based teams.
  • Support energy-efficiency and decarbonization initiatives and evaluate emissions reduction opportunities.
  • Liaise with maritime authorities, classification societies, verifiers, consultants, and other external stakeholders.
  • Improve emissions management systems, procedures, controls, and reporting tools.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A background in Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, Data Analytics, or a related maritime field is specified.
  • Experience in emissions reporting, environmental compliance, sustainability analysis, data analysis, or a related maritime role is specified.
  • Knowledge of IMO DCS, EU MRV, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, CII, or EEXI requirements is required.
  • Experience with vessel performance, fuel consumption, voyage, or emissions data is desirable.
  • Experience with data reporting systems, environmental management platforms, or regulatory compliance tools is advantageous.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical processes.
  • Understanding of maritime operations, vessel emissions, fuel consumption, and carbon accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools is required.
  • Power BI or a similar reporting platform is advantageous.
  • Strong data management, reporting, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet regulatory deadlines.
  • Fluency in English and solid computer literacy.
