Job Description
Support the teacher in creating a positive, engaging, and organised learning environment for students learning English as an additional language.
Help multilingual learners develop English proficiency for access to the full curriculum and support their academic and personal development.
Receive structured training and mentoring in language acquisition and inclusive teaching practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with lesson planning, classroom activities, and individual or small-group student support.
- Deliver targeted language interventions and use scaffolding, visuals, and language-support techniques.
- Support English development across speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Assist with assessments, progress monitoring, and preparation of teaching and language-support resources.
- Supervise students during lessons, breaks, transitions, events, and other school activities.
- Support positive behaviour, classroom management, assignments, reading, writing, and other learning activities.
- Communicate student observations to teachers and work professionally with staff, students, and parents.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organised classroom and follow school, safeguarding, and health and safety policies.
- Participate in school events, meetings, training, and professional development.
