Responsibilities
- Design and document electro-mechanical systems, i.e. assemblies, subassemblies, and components from concept to deployment.
- Assist engineers in performing trade space evaluations of weight, size, cost, and evaluates commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items, and manufacturability of components in accordance with project specifications.
- Assists engineers in the development of printed circuit board electronics, circuit diagrams, silk screen, board layout, wiring harnesses, interfacing connectors etc.
- Participate in team meetings to plan and execute complex technical tasks.
- Works closely with MIKEL personnel, US Government engineers, Navy service members, and others across the DoW enterprise.
- Coordinates with commercial suppliers, acquisition and logistics team to source COTS items, develop new components, and or replace aging legacy products that are being phased out.
- Develop 3D models and drawing details of mechanical and electrical components (PCBs) and assemblies using CAD software, i.e. SolidWorks, OrCAD, etc. and guides documents through NAVSEA configuration management processes.
- Assists in the writing of reports, procedures, service bulletins, briefings, test plans, statements of work, and other documents.
- Builds, troubleshoots, and tests prototypes and sub-assemblies with the assistance of technicians and operators.
Requirements
- Ability to Obtain/maintain SECRET Clearance.
- Ability and willingness to take direction.
- Clear and concise communicator.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, circuit works, OrCAD or other PCB and cable harness design software.
- Familiar with the process of developing, manufacturing, testing, and trouble shooting PCB electronics and integrating with complex system.
- Clear understanding of packaged electronics systems & components from enclosures, sheet metal, mechanical assembly, PCB development, testing and validation for rugged applications.
