Overview

Lead electrical design teams within the Engineering Services group in Sudbury, Ontario.

Deliver electrical design for hospitals, long-term care facilities, universities, colleges, institutional, recreational, commercial, light industrial, and multi-residential buildings.

Manage projects, budgets, resources, technical compliance, staff development, and departmental operations.

Your role

  • Supervise electrical design staff, assign technical tasks, provide guidance and feedback, and ensure staff competence and professional growth.
  • Manage electrical design projects through planning, design, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
  • Provide technical recommendations and support for design reviews, strategic plans, and projects.
  • Establish technical standards for documentation and designs.
  • Allocate resources, manage departmental budgets, forecast costs, and ensure reliable materials are available.
  • Consult with clients and stakeholders, prepare proposals and technical reports, and coordinate with departments and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop policies, standards, and procedures that improve operations, safety compliance, and product quality.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario are required.
  • Ability to obtain CAPM or PMP designation.
  • Minimum 15 years of building systems engineering experience, preferably across institutional, healthcare, educational, municipal, office, and commercial facilities.
  • Relevant code and standards experience includes OBC, NBC, CEC/OESC, ASHRAE 90.1, CSA standards, and ULC-S524 and S537.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite is required; Revit and MicroStation experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of electrical design, project management, budget management, resource allocation, and team supervision is required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary for team and stakeholder management.
