Opportunity
Work with Stantec’s Energy team on HV/EHV AC and DC substation projects throughout North America.
Develop engineering design skills under the supervision of a Senior Engineer and report to the Electrical Team Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform power flow, short-circuit, grounding, lightning protection, insulation coordination, TRV, cable ampacity, bus, and lighting studies.
- Design substations, including layouts, grounding, cable routing, AC/DC distribution, equipment specifications, diagrams, schematics, wiring, and calculations.
- Prepare technical specifications for equipment, construction, testing, and commissioning.
- Support procurement, construction, commissioning, proposals, project plans, estimates, interdisciplinary coordination, and QA/QC.
- Conduct site visits and perform drafting work as required.
Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience with PSSE, PSCAD, ETAP, CDEGS, WinIGS, and MathCAD is an asset.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, and Inventor.
- Preliminary knowledge of the CEC, IEEE, and CSA standards.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to support continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives.
- Valid driver’s license.
