Electrical Engineer in Training - Substations

Stantec’s Energy team in western Canada is currently offering exciting opportunities for Electrical Engineers to work on a variety of HV/EHV AC and DC substation projects throughout North America.

The Stations Electrical Design team is looking to fill the role of an Electrical Engineer-in-Training.

Reporting to the Electrical Team Lead, the Electrical EIT will work under the supervision of a Senior Engineer to develop skills and gain experience in performing engineering design.

• Perform engineering studies such as power flow, short circuit, grounding, lightning protection, insulation coordination, TRV, cable ampacity, rigid and flexible bus, lighting, etc.
• Conduct detailed design of substations, including switchyard layouts, sections, grounding plan/details, cable routing, AC/DC distribution, major equipment specifications, single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, marking, design calculations, etc.
• Prepare technical specifications for major equipment, construction, and testing & commissioning.
• Provide technical support for procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Assist in preparing proposals, project plans and estimates.
• Coordinate with other disciplines during project execution to solve challenging technical issues.
• Follow internal QA/QC procedures to deliver high quality engineering service to clients.
• Conduct site visits to verify existing installation, define project scope, prepare for detailed design, and provide construction site supports as required.
• Drafting work may be required in order to complete deliverables.
