Dump Truck Driver/Operator

1. Multilimb Coordination - The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or climbing. 2. Control Precision - The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. 3. Rate Control - The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object or scene. 4. Static Strength - The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. 5. Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. 6. Perceptual Speed - The ability to quickly and accurately compare similarities and differences among sets of letters, numbers, objects, pictures, or patterns.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly operates a vehicle and equipment in and around active job sites and public roadways, and is exposed to hot tack material, varying weather conditions, moving equipment and traffic, dust, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. The employee walks or stands for up to 10 hours per shift, and frequently climbs in and out of the truck multiple times per shift. The employee carries objects for up to 1 hour and bends or stoops for up to 30 minutes per shift, with crouching required only rarely. The employee frequently lifts objects weighing 5-10 pounds, 10-20 pounds, and 20-50 pounds for up to 15 minutes each per shift, with objects over 50 pounds lifted very rarely. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work vary based on the production and paving schedule, and the employee must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.

This position involves regular driving throughout central Alabama to complete assigned job site and paving routes; no additional travel beyond assigned routes is required.
